Three Minutes of Pearl - Cats and Cupcakes

Pearl is 19 months old, and she was given this book for Christmas. In less than a week she was finishing our sentences when we read it to her. She can fill most of the blanks, and each time we read it together she says more and more words!

My new office

I've moved to a new office! A year ago I wouldn't have been excited to be working in Times Square. It's lousy with tourists and there's no decent places for lunch - but it's about 12 minutes from Grand Central Station, which cuts down my commute noticeably. The building isn't as up to date as the one I was in downtown, but it has more amenities.

Here's a view from the hallway outside my office. Not only am I close to daylight (unlike a week ago) but I can see the Hudson.

Here's the kitchenette on our floor. Hey Aunt Kathy - all the free Diet Coke I can handle on that fountain machine!

I still get to have my own thermostat too!

On the 7th floor there's a huge cafeteria with an ever changing choice of food. It's subsidized too - a custom ommlette and hash browns is only $2.25! There's a view of Times Square and the Chrysler Building from the seating area.

Here's a view of Times Square from outside my door.

This is the building I work in. They used to shoot TRL and other MTV shows on the second floor.

Here's my office! Same setup as before basically, feels like home. I think I'll get used to this no problem!

2010

We hope you all had a safe and happy New Year! We had a very relaxing weekend. The snow was coming down pretty heavily on New Year's Eve morning but we decided to brave the weather and go for a swim at the gym.

Pearl had a good time blowing bubbles and splashing and then we stopped by the grocery store to pick out lobsters for Mommy and Daddy's dinner. Pearl liked touching their shells.

After her nap, we put on our snow gear and played in the backyard snow.

Pearl screamed like a wild woman when we first put on her snow pants but once we got outside she was happy to play. Of course, there was no way she was letting us put on her mittens (I don't think she likes having limited access to her precious thumb) so her hands got cold and we went inside after about 15 or 20 minutes.

On New Year's Day we got Pearl a little sled (as documented in a previous post) and went for a ride in the yard. Pearl actually wore her mittens for a little while but she soon was asking for "help" and flailing her arms in the air so we let her take them off again.

Since then we've just hung out at home for the long weekend. We've been very worried for the past week about our Poppy and Nana as they are both very ill right now so we hope you'll keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

Thanks and take care!

Love,
Jill
