A Busy Week 29

This weekend Morgan and I went upstate to be with my Mom and Dad before Mom had her heart surgery on Monday. We had a great weekend crib shopping with them and they bought us a beautiful crib for our little girl. It will be 4 to 6 weeks before it arrives, but you can be sure we’ll be posting pictures as soon as we get it set up. Thank you so much, Mom and Dad!

Morgan drove back to Brooklyn early Monday morning and I stayed upstate so I could be at the hospital while Mom had her surgery. Originally, the doctors thought they would have to replace two of her valves and repair one, but we were very happy to hear that once they started the surgery they only had to replace one valve and repair two. The surgery went well and we got to see Mom in the ICU Monday afternoon. She was still under anesthesia but the doctors and nurses said everything went well. What’s really amazing is that they had her breathing tube out and had her up and walking around by Tuesday! I got to speak to her this morning and it was so good to hear her voice (even though it was a bit scratchy). Morgan and I will be heading back up this weekend and we are hoping that she’ll be able to come home by Sunday or Monday so she can continue her recovery process in her own house.
