Childbirth 101
Well, we finally took our childbirth education class this past weekend. It was really informative, but pretty exhausting as it ran most of the day. The instructor was a doula who definitely had a “no drugs” agenda, but she was really nice and we both learned a lot. She gave us lots of tips about how to deal with labor pain and focused quite a bit on how the support person (Morgan) can help throughout the entire childbirth process. I am proud to say that I watched a child be born and didn’t even get woozy! I hope this means I’m toughening up...
There was definitely an interesting group of people in the class. Most of the other couples were very young and many of the men looked like they had been dragged there against their will. I hate to admit this, but it definitely gave me and Morgan a shot of confidence – if they can do this, we can do this!
This morning we had another doctor’s appointment – this time we were back with Dr. Kim. She said everything looks great. I’ve developed hives on my hands and feet in the past few weeks and they are driving me crazy at night. Sometimes itchiness can be indicative of a problem with the liver or gall bladder, but apparently all my bloodword came back fine and I’m just suffering from allergies. I guess I'll just have to deal with itchiness, but it's getting increasingly difficult to sleep! On a very good note, Dr. Kim said the baby’s head is facing down the way it should be and hopefully she won’t do any flips in the next few weeks and we’ll be all set for labor.
That’s all for right now. I hope you’re all doing well and we’ll keep you posted on any further developments – it won’t be long now!!!
Love,
Jill
xoxo
