For Our Friends and Family with GPS...

Make sure you take the suction cup windshield or dash mounting hardware out of your car when its parked or this might happen.

I had heard on the news a couple of weeks ago about thieves targeting cars with GPS mounting hardware visible from the outside. Unfortunately, I thought we'd be safe parked right outside our house. It seems last night at least two cars were broken into on our street. Someone leaned in through our car, checked the glovebox for our GPS, but didn't find one. They also tugged on the power cables under our dash but left those in tact. The funny thing (but not really funny) is that they left my 5 year old iPod behind, clearly visible in the glovebox that was ransacked. Oh well. Its more of a inconvience than something heartbreaking. Still, its put a damper on my day.

Sigh.

The same thing happened to me. I left the mount for my GPS mounted on my dashboard. The next morning I found my passenger side window bashed in and my glove compartments ransacked. The gps wasn't in the car but my camera was. They left the camera and all of my parking tickets scattered all over the place.
